|BEAT THE ODDS
When one is resilient, you manage to break barriers even when the odds are not in your favor.
My name is Silantoi, I am a separated, disabled mother of one. Joining the Carakana project made me feel like I’d beaten the odds. I’d beaten society’s expectations of people living with disabilities. I worked hard on this cross stitch pattern of a cheetah in the savanna it took me eight weeks to finish. I got paid for work done. With the money I earned, I immediately bought school supplies for my child and bought sugar for my home because we hadn’t used it in a while. May God bless Carakana abundantly for remembering women living with disabilities. I pray that they may continue to empower women.
